High Point Award

The Highpoint Award relates to racing farriers and the horses they shoe for the major races on the racing calendar in Queensland. This award has been going for a few years now with a growing list of top tradesmen to win the award. Farriers receive points for horses they shoe that place in the selected races. The points are 7 for first 3 for second and 1 for third. The selected races in the series cover all the Group 1's during the Brisbane Winter Carnival as well as the biggest prizemoney race from the other South East Qld Provincial clubs of Toowoomba, Gold Coast, Ipswich and Caloundra. The sponsor for this award for the last 2 years has been Wayne Nugent from Centaur Farrier Supplies and we thank him for his continued support. The selected races are below:

The winner for 2010 is Gold Coast farrie rMark O'Leary. Mark set a new record of 38 points in winning this year breaking the record of 30 set last year by Kristian Coats who managed to win the award for two consecutive years. Mark will receive his award on the 28th of August at the Queensland Racing Industry Awards.
